Is Hellraiser: Revival Multiplayer or Co-op? Modes Explained
A recurring question within the survival horror community is whether Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival includes cooperative or multiplayer components similar to asymmetric horror titles like Dead by Daylight or The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The Verdict: 100% Single-Player Campaign
No, Hellraiser: Revival does not feature multiplayer, co-op, or online PvP.
The game is engineered from the ground up as a focused, story-driven single-player survival horror experience. Developer Saber Interactive and author Clive Barker tailored the campaign around Aidan Lynch’s solitary descent into madness, ensuring tension and pacing remain strictly controlled without external player interference.
| Game Mode | Supported Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Single-Player Story | ✅ Full Support | Narrative campaign starring Aidan Lynch and Pinhead |
| Online Co-op | ❌ Not Supported | No 2-4 player cooperative progression |
| Local Couch Co-op | ❌ Not Supported | Single perspective camera only |
| Asymmetric PvP | ❌ Not Supported | Pinhead cannot be controlled by other human players |
Why Co-op Was Excluded
In interviews and community Q&As, the design team emphasized that introducing multiplayer would dilute the psychological dread intrinsic to Clive Barker’s universe:
- Puzzle Box Manipulation: Operating the Genesis Configuration demands deep mechanical concentration and spatial puzzle-solving that breaks down in chaotic multiplayer environments.
- Limited Resource Scarcity: Survival horror balances fragile weapon durability against relentless Cenobite pursuit. Multiplayer economies disrupt this delicate scarcity balance.
- Pacing and Atmosphere: Exploring the Scarlet Church and the subterranean Labyrinth requires solitary immersion to evoke genuine terror.
Will Multiplayer Be Added in Future DLC?
Saber Interactive has indicated no plans for multiplayer post-launch expansions. Post-launch support will focus on performance updates and potential single-player narrative chapters expanding on the Bleeding Hearts novella lore.
